It's Iron Craft Challenge time and the latest challenge is "Home Is Where The Heart Is." The challengers were asked to make something for the home or something using that uses an image of a house or is house shaped. I had a couple ideas but I remembered a neat idea to make your own soap dispenser using a mason jar I saw on Pinterest.
I followed a tutorial from The Frugal Homemaker but there are a couple things I'll eventually have to address (and maybe make a new lid). First, hot gluing the dispenser to the lid may have sealed the dispenser in place as well as the freshly cut edges, but going to be pain if I ever have to clean out the dispenser. The particular one I used can easily get water stuck in it and could lead to rusting. I'm thinking a small o-ring/seal would be better because it could be removed to take a part and clean the dispenser. Second (especially if I go with the first modification), I'll have to treat or do something to the lid and ring. I'm going to guess that this thing will eventually rust and not be as friendly for the bathroom. Not sure how to go about that, but when I'm ready to re-tackle this craft, I'll have a game plan!
