Abigail's first birthday was on January 31st and I had been daydreaming about a donut party since she was about 4 months old. Jonny thought I was a little crazy looking up ideas on Pinterest we weren't even halfway to a year, but I'm glad I did because there were so many fun ideas out in the world wide web for first birthdays.
The donut idea came around because, well. I love donuts. And I love Abigail. Let's put them together! :) Plus, I know I may only get to have themed parties for so long, and only one or two of those before little miss has an opinion on how she wants to celebrate. ;) So I took advantage of the situation!
I had quite a few invitations to make so I decided to do a hybrid of stamping & computer printing. I'm really glad I went with a flat "postcard" design. It made printing easy and no folding was required.
The sentiment and party information was printed - I just did some simple typing using fun fonts on Adobe Illustrator, but you could really use any program like Pages or Word - while the banner and donut were stamped! I colored in the stamped images using alcohol markers and I just love how they turned out.
What are your secrets for making a big batch of invitations? Let me know in the comments so I can plan for the future!
