A couple weeks ago I started a new devotional called Treasures of Darkness by Jane Johnson. She created this study from her own personal prayer journals when she was struggling with her infertility and losing her close friend to cancer. I had stumbled across her blog and was extremely moved by her stories and related to the hurt and pain she was experiencing on my own personal journey of coping with the loss of my father.
When Jane offered her Facebook followers a chance to go through the study with her in a private group, I jumped at the chance. How many times are you able to go through a study with the author!
The beginning of the devotional, she asked us to pray and journal how we want to leave this study changed and quoted Ezekiel 46:9...
When the people of the land come before the LORD on the appointed
feast days, whoever enters by way of the north gate to worship shall go
out by way of the south gate; and whoever enters by way of the south
gate shall go out by way of the north gate.
He shall not return by way of the gate through which he came.
I was really moved by that verse. As I enter into this devotional, I will be changed and will finish it at a different place in my relationship with Him. I will leave changed.
I'm really excited to continue this study and share with you my journal entries in my Bible as time goes on. For those of you who have asked what kind of Bible I use, it is an ESV Journaling Bible by Crossway. I purchased it from Amazon here.
